Autism Assessment

Clarity. Language. Validation. Support.

Have you been wondering whether you might be autistic or have AuDHD (Autism + ADHD)? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate this process alone either.

At InFocus Counselling, our team of autistic and neurodivergent clinicians provides comprehensive, trauma-informed assessments for adults and adolescents (ages 18+). Whether you’re seeking greater self-understanding or formal documentation for accommodations, our process is designed to honour your pace, protect your dignity, and center your lived experience.

All assessments are grounded in current research, medically verified, and clinically validated, drawing on the latest understanding of neurodivergent presentations across the lifespan.

Why Pursue an Autism or AuDHD Assessment?

A formal diagnosis can help you:

  • Understand your unique way of experiencing the world

  • Reframe past challenges through a neurodivergent lens

  • Identify your strengths, support needs, and regulation strategies

  • Access accommodations in education, work, or healthcare settings

  • Clarify co-occurring presentations (e.g., ADHD and Autism)

  • Feel affirmed by language that resonates with your lived experience

Our 3-Part, Evidence-Based Assessment Process

All three steps below are required for a complete and medically recognized diagnosis. Together, they ensure the assessment is robust, ethical, and institutionally accepted.

Step 1: Pre-Assessment Screening & Intake
We begin with structured self-report tools and intake questionnaires informed by current peer-reviewed research. Optional reflective prompts help you share your lived experience.

✔️ Tools used are internationally recognized and supported by decades of clinical application.

Step 2: Clinical Diagnostic Interview
A licensed clinician conducts an in-depth, structured interview to explore developmental history, sensory and emotional experiences, executive functioning, masking, and interpersonal patterns.

✔️ Interviews follow DSM-5 criteria and use gold-standard tools such as the RAADS-R, AQ, and DIVA-5.

Step 3: Medical Review & Diagnostic Report
After your clinical interview, the entire file is reviewed by a licensed physician to ensure diagnostic accuracy and that your report meets medical and institutional standards.
✔️ Your diagnosis is medically verified—suitable for use in academic, workplace, and healthcare settings.

The Assessment Team

We work as a multidisciplinary team with a diverse blend of lived experience, professional training, and clinical expertise. Our team includes a registered psychotherapist and a medical physician, both of whom are deeply experienced in neurodivergent assessment and care.

Where needed, we collaborate with external professionals and can refer clients to trusted practitioners or service providers whose expertise complements our own.

We are available to assess, interpret, and integrate individual test results within a broader clinical and medical context. This includes making diagnostic determinations and supporting treatment planning, following the establishment of a clinical relationship that respects the client’s pace and autonomy.

What Sets Our Assessments Apart?

Led by Autistic & Neurodivergent Clinicians: We bring lived experience and professional insight to every assessment—without pathologizing who you are.

Medically Validated & Research-Driven: We only use evidence-based tools and frameworks supported by the most up-to-date literature.

Trauma-Informed & Masking-Aware: We understand that survival strategies like masking can affect how you present—and we never pathologize your coping.

Culturally Responsive: We account for how neurodivergence shows up across different races, genders, languages, and life experiences.

Ethical & Transparent: You’ll always know what to expect. Our three-step process is clear, complete, and includes no hidden fees or upsells.
