Something Wonderful Is Growing at InFocus: Free Therapeutic Crafting Groups

This week, we held our very first Therapeutic Crafting Group, and it was such a lovely way to spend an evening together. We gathered virtually to slow down, create, connect, and make therapeutic affirmation cards in a space where there was no pressure to be artistic, productive, or anything other than ourselves.

What began as a single group reminded us of something important: creative spaces can be therapeutic spaces. For neurodivergent people in particular, connection does not always need to centre around conversation. Sometimes it can happen while our hands are busy, while we are making something, while we are quietly sharing space with others, or while we are simply given permission to create without expectations.

So, we’ve decided to keep it going.

Therapeutic Crafting will now be a FREE ongoing InFocus community group, offered every two months.

Each gathering will feature a different accessible creative activity with a therapeutic focus. The intention is not to teach art or evaluate what anyone creates. Instead, these groups will offer a gentle space for creativity, regulation, self-expression, connection, and a little bit of fun.

No artistic experience is needed. There is no expectation to be “good” at crafting. You are welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable for you. Our first group focused on creating affirmation cards, and we’re already looking forward to seeing what we create together next.

Creativity. Connection. Community. No cost.

We hope you’ll join us at the craft table next time.
